Christmas Festivities

We hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas filled with lots of joy and happiness. We sure did in the Dial household. I would like to share a few pictures from our eventful week; starting with Christmas morning to acting out the Christmas story from the Bible on Christmas Eve to decorating sugar cookies for Santa and finally visiting Santa at the Kindergarten Christmas party. My favorite time of the year is Fall. I love the crisp cool days, the beautiful colors as the leaves change, decorations, picking and craving pumpkins, the wonderful smells emanating from my kitchen, and of course Halloween!

I figured I only had one year left of picking out my children's costumes before they all get their own opinions :) So this year since I have 4 kids I went with the Wizard of Oz Theme. I am so happy that they turned out and I actually got some good pictures! ENJOY!

So I am a slacker!

So our youngest son, Bridger Pearce was born July 21, 2010. Yes, it is October and I am a slacker! He weighed 7.1 lbs and was 20 1/2 inches. He fit perfectly in between the twins, Hunter was 7.3 lbs and Ruger was 6.7 lbs. However, Bridger was the longest of all my kids. Not only was he the longest this kids feet, toes and fingers are CRAZY long! His little feet were the same length as Ryan's pointer finger!

From the beginning he has been a little stinker! From being wedged under my ribs and taking 12 LONG minutes plus a vacuum to get him out to having acid reflux which of course leads to not sleeping. However, the absolute JOY he brings into our lives is definitely worth it. I now know that the Dial clan is complete. My children are my world!

These pictures will soon be outdated come July 21st!! My mother in law wanted to have family pictures before some of Ryan's siblings moved away this summer, so much to my hesitation ( I hate taking pictures while I am pregnant, especially 8 months pregnant) we joined the fam and these are what we came out with. I am pretty impressed, minus myself and the big belly that I tried very hard to conceal with Hunter :)

My TOUGH little guy!

So Sunday after church we put the boys down to nap just like we do every day. Well Hunter has mastered getting out of his crib with ease. Unfortunately after watching Hunter, Ruger decided to give it a try. Of course the first time resulted in our first broken arm! After spending 2 1/2 hours in the ER he was put into a splint and we were told to see Dr. Woods, the Orthopedic Surgeon, the next day to make sure everything was okay and to be casted.

After a rough night we saw Dr. Woods Monday afternoon. He double checked the x-rays and said it was a nice clean break so NO surgery...YEAH!!! The Doc casted him just below the shoulder and sent us on our way. Mom will have to endure the next 4 weeks and this too shall pass!

Ruger has been such a good little boy. I have been very impressed with his pain tolerance and patience for that matter of being poked and prodded. He is still my happy little boy that is adapting to using his left hand very well. We have ALL learned our lessons, Ryan and I bought 2 toddler beds yesterday and now are trying to teach the boys how to sleep in those. It has been a rough couple of nights, but it is bound to get better, right?

HIP HIP HOORAY FOR BROWNIES!!

I made brownies the other day and just like my Mom did for us I decided I would let the kids lick the beaters and the spoon. Ahh the results were priceless! The boys really didn't lick so to say but tried to put the entire beater into their mouths! I loved watching them enjoying such a simple thing. Each and every day is a new adventure in the Dial household. Each child is developing their own personality/temperament and I love what each new day brings. I am so blessed!

The little things that make me smile!

Ems new favorite activity...ice fishing. Her Dad introduced her to this past time last week and that is all she wants to do. I am amazed at how much she loves this and how excited she gets when they get to go. Ryan says she does very well and in fact tells him what to use to catch the fish and so far it has worked!

Marker Boy!! This little stinker LOVES any type of writing utensil he can get his hands on. However, instead of using paper he immediately lifts up his shirt and uses his belly as his masterpiece! Nothing else which is a good thing I guess since I am not having to invest in the Magic Eraser. Each time (which has been several) Hunter is very proud of his creation! Love him!

The joy of bubbles! Another simply activity that produced plenty of giggles. The boys were a little hesitant at first, but it didn't take long before they were chasing every bubble. Ah the joy!

Well I have learned that my children (especially the boys) love to "help" around the house. Every time I break out the vacuum cleaner it is a fight to see who gets to help mom. It first started with wanting to help Grandma do the dishes. A few days later I was not surprised when they wanted to help Grandma clean out the freezer. Although helping did not last long Ruger thought it was best to sit and make sure Grandma got the job done right! I hope they continue to enjoy helping! Ha!

Emily could not wait until there was enough snow to go sledding. I was beginning to worry that this simple yet very fun activity was not going to happen. She absolutely loves it especially when she has her cousin Maddi to enjoy the festivities with her! They were so much fun to watch.

HALLOWEEN!!

I love Halloween, however I have learned my lesson, never to tell a 4 year old that Halloween is coming. Everyday since the Halloween decorations went up (October 1st) she asked if it is Halloween yet and of course my response was not yet and then had to proceed to explain why and when it will be here. I am debating what to do for Christmas, ha!

This year Emily wanted to be a "good witch" and her dress had to sparkle. So I found one that had LED lights in the skirt, pretty good I may say so myself! The boys of course had to match and what better way than Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Cat and the Hat! I loved creating their costumes, however having blue hair dye ALL over everything was just a little bit much! All in all the kids had a great time visiting with cousins and trick or treating.

U Pick Pumpkin Patch

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Every year we spend the day as a family and go to the pumpkin patch and then carve our findings! This year we went to the U Pick Red Barn in Idaho Falls. There were so many pumpkins of all sizes. Of course the boys were not that interested in the big orange things, but more in the little gray things on the ground (I am slowly getting use to little boys).

In the end Dad did a great job and found us the perfect pumpkins. The kids did well, the boys were a little mad that we took them away from their HUGE dirt pile and Emily of course did not want to go home. Here is our attempt at taking family pictures!

So on to the carving portion. Emily loves watching and of course telling us what she wants to be carved on the pumpkins. Dad found the perfect pumpkin for "Franky Frankenstein" and Em wanted Mom to carve a witch (of course since that is what she is going to be this year).

Thanks to Geri at Orchid Photography we had our family pictures done and what an experience! Geri was so patience with our little circus, she was wonderful! Trying to get all 5 of us to look at the camera at the same time let alone get everyone to smile was even a bigger challenge. However, Geri was amazing and here is some of her 270 pictures :)

A quick update - Emily just started preschool and absolutely LOVES it! She is making new friends and learning her ABC's. The twins are very active, walking however, is not part of their vocabulary RUNNING is and it is never in the same direction! They definitely keep Mom very busy! Ryan and I are well. Taking it one day at a time and enjoying every little thing about our children. Enjoy!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOYS!

Well it is official... my babies have turned one. Or I guess I should say that Mom has survived the first year with twins!! Yay Mom!! Although the first five months were some of the most difficult times of my life it was well worth it. I love my little guys and I could not imagine life without either one of them.

We had a simple BBQ with our families to help celebrate this special day. The boys of course took it as just another day, but of course I had to make it special for me (and for the scrapbooks). Each boy got his own cake and I was totally shocked that Hunter did not know what to do, I mean it is food and this kid EATS everything! Ruger DIVED right in without looking back. Eventually, Hunter figured things out. They loved every bite. Of course they were very spoiled thanks to their grandparents, aunts and uncles. We had trucks coming out of our ears! :) What a wonderful day to spend with family and friends and my heart is filled with so much gratitude. What a wonderful blessing that I was able to have two healthy and adorable little boys!

Fishing at Twin Lakes

On Saturday we took off and joined Ryan's cousins at Twin Lakes for a day of fishing. It was so much fun. Emily loves to go fishing and the best part is she LOVES to eat them (a lot better than her Mom does)! Ryan was really good about taking Emily and I out and patiently sit there and take the fish of the hooks and put the worms back on. Thanks honey!!

By the end of the trip Emily was catching and reeling the fish in herself. It was so cute she would yell out that she caught one and throw her arms in the air and say, "yea look at me, I did it!" So cute...we caught a lot of fish!!

Emily had a lot of fun with her cousins and of course fishing with her Dad. After a long hard day of fun and lots of cheetos we achieved the ultimate reward...3 passed out kids for the ride home! :)

There are 2 things I love - BABIES AND BATH TIME! Of course this only means one thing, adorable little bums :) On Mother's Day Ryan was very good and took over getting the kids up, feeding them, giving them baths, etc. As I lay in bed listening to all of the commotion I heard giggles coming from the bathroom, I was not surprised that Ryan's was the loudest! This is what I walked in on...

The Dentist

Emily is such a big girl I am so proud of her. She had her first trip to the dentist and she was awesome! She allowed them to take x-rays with a little coaxing. Then she got to wear some cool blue sunglasses as she had her teeth cleaned. She was really excited about picking out her flavors for the cleaning (Bubble Gum) and then for the fluoride treatment (Strawberry). The whole time she kept telling us that she was going get to go to the treasure box and pick a prize because she was a good girl. She was right, a new toothbrush and a bouncy ball later she was finished and the dentist was very impressed - NO CAVITIES (thanks to Mom)!!

The tradition for the Dial house always starts off with the dying of the eggs. This year Emily invited her friend Madeline Bates to help kick off the festivities! They had so much fun using crayons and glitter! I am not sure which got more glitter the eggs or my floor!?!

Moving on to the the big Easter egg hunt. Grandpa Scott loves to have an Easter egg hunt in their backyard every year for the grandkids. Right now there are only two who are old enough to participate, Emily and Maddi. The girls love searching for the eggs. Of course Emily had to shake each one to make sure that the Easter Bunny did not forget to put candy in them! What a stinker! Needless to say the girls made a haul like they do every year! Thank you Easter Bunny!!

Finally, taking pictures with Mom, well kind of. We did the best we could considering I have 3 kids under the age of 4! Between the wiggles and the giggles this is what we came up with!

What is this thing called GRASS????

Yea SPRING....well at least for a day or two right? Well since it was nice for a day this week I decided to take the boys outside and play on the grass. This is the first time for both boys since they were born, almost 10 months ago. Well Ruger was cautious at first, but didn't seem to mind this new discovery. Hunter on the other hand had different feelings about this stuff that is not so green, hard, and poky. He HATED it! He just looked at me like WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME? I have not laughed so much in a long time. When you would put him on his belly he did the super baby pose you know the one that if I don't put my hands and feet down maybe it will just go away. I LOVED it. Hopefully, with a few more encounters he will learn to love this thing that will give mom many headaches of trying to get grass stains out of his and his brother's clothing!

Hunter loves glasses and hats, basically anything on your head. So watch out if your wearing one! Well he discovered my sister, Melanie's hat so we decided to try it on him. He of course was adorable! Now only if I can find one in his SIZE!

Now on to Emily. Em loves to wear high heels (it is starting early, HELP me)! Well today she found my "hooker boots" as my lovely husband calls them and was clunking around the house with them. It was pretty cute so Ryan and I asked for her to stop and pose for us, check out our little model!

MOM! Help me!

I was back in the kitchen when I heard a faint cry for HELP! As I went to investigate I discovered that Emily had pulled out all of the boy's toys and crawled into the toy box. Well Hunter thought that this was pretty cool so he shut the lid and decided to stand there. Emily knew that if she pushed the lid open that Hunter would fall (what a smart sister). Needless to say I thought that this was hilarious and took the time to take photos of my cute ding-a-lings!

Valentines

Since Emily is in preschool this year she gets to experience all the little parties. They celebrated "my heart day" as Em calls it and with that she wanted to make cupcakes for her classmates. So after the boys went to bed I let her have full reign of the kitchen. She did very well for a 3 year old. Her favorite part was putting the sprinkles on the cupcakes (as well as the table, floor, herself, etc.) I enjoyed every minute of it and she loved it and that is all that matters!

2 Little boys with RSV

The month of February was not dull by any means. There is Valentines Day, birthdays and lets not forget cold season. It started with Hunter and having a twin the rule is to always share right? Well Hunter came down with RSV and three days later Ruger decided he too must join in all the fun. Except Ruger decided to take the virus a little more serious and not eat. Within hours of hospitalization my Mom took matters into her own hands and basically made Ruger eat. It worked, thanks Mom. Needless to say we were housebound for 2 weeks, antibiotics for ear infections, and a lovely machine called a nebulizer four times a day. It was a sad two weeks for the Dial household!

So I have just realized what the next (oh who knows how long) maybe several years are going to be like. Since Hunter has discovered how to be mobile he seems to know how to torture Ruger at the same time. Instead of going around or just leaving Ruger be, Hunter has decided that he needs to crawl over him. This is not a quick process and Ruger will let you know about it the entire time! I am waiting for the day when Ruger will fight back and he will, so in the meantime I am trying to prepare myself for the inevitable wrestling matches that will take place within this home very shortly!

Cuddle Bug!

Ruger is my little cuddle bug. He loves to snuggle and is just content when your holding him. He could care less if he was on the floor rolling around like his brother, just as long you were holding him!

Aww Carrots!

So we tried giving the boys carrots the other day. Ruger loved them, Hunter on the other hand, not so much. Everytime Ryan would give him a spoonful Hunter thought that spitting them out would be way cooler. Needless to say we had carrots every where, mostly on Hunter!

Christmas!

Christmas was so much fun this year. Emily finally understood the whole Santa thing and was so cute to watch. This year was all about the princesses. From clothes to dolls to her boots, yes she even got princess boots and loves them. The boys were not too excited of course til Santa left a jumper and Ruger fell in love. He absolutely loves it. Hunter on the other hand did not care as you can tell from the pictures. All in all Christmas was very special and Santa out did himself again at the Stufflebeam's he was awesome!

Christmas Eve

For as long as I could remember my grandmother always had us grandkids act out the nativity scene from the Bible every Christmas Eve. Well for many years we claimed that we were all too old. This all changed this year. Now our own kids have started up the tradition of acting out the nativity scene. Although it was a little chaotic at first they did it and it was very special to watch. Emily was Mary, her cousin Maddi was the angel, Asher was Joseph, Aiden was a wiseman, and his little sister Ava joined in as well. My favorite, my uncle Quinn (yes that is him with Emily on his back) as the donkey!

First Haircut

Well the boys are only 6 months old and Ruger had his first hair cut. He has hair like his daddy, (I am sorry Ruger). Hunter is starting to catch up in the hair department, so he will get his first haircut soon. Ruger did very well. He sat very still with a smile on his face the entire time. Good job buddy!

The Jumper

So I got out the jumper for the boys to play in thinking that this will be a great entertainment toy. Not only for entertainment purposes, but to help build strength in their legs. Well I was right in the entertainment area for me, they both fell asleep within minutes of getting in! I can't complain too much, I was able to have some unexpected quite time (very unusal in our household)!

The Twins

Twins! I still remember the day I was told I was having twins, December 3, 2007. I was at a loss for words, I still am today. Hunter Paul and Ryan Ruger were born June 19, 2008. We were very lucky to have two healthy boys. Five months later they are very happy and healthy and growning like weeds. I have never had to do something so hard yet so rewarding at the same time. I have been told that it is double the work and trouble, I would have to disagree, it is much more than double. However, at the end of the day I get to get double the kisses and loves. I love my boys.

What can I say about Em, she is such a smart and funny little girl. She turned 3 in August and everyday she amazes me with her imagination and vocabulary. She makes me tired trying to keep up with her! She started in preschool in September and loves the seeing her teacher and all of the kids. Everyday she asks if it is time to go to school. Emily also enjoys to sing and dance like all of the Disney princesses, she is our little princess through and through!
